I had a previous post that I wrote about !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in Munich. On the same trip, a day or two before going to Munich, I saw this thing in Augsburg. Structural rigidity must be non-existent here, although I’m not against the concept of a large, four-seater convertible. Besides the roof, there are some other questionable modifications.

To me, it looks like it would fold in half if it tried to turn onto a driveway too aggressively.

I don’t think I’ve seen a 300 modded like this ever since - the ones I see are usually modded with something silly like a fake Rolls-Royce grille.

Heck of a cruiser though. I could enjoy this.

I wish Chrysler would have the balls to make a convertible 300. I am sure it would sell

I drive a 1975 Pontiac convertible and I've been wanting to have the opportunity to buy a middle age man convertible. When they announced the ASC 300 I was all over it, never happened though. About the closest I've gotten to what I want, as an old dude 48, is the 1985 or so Seville and olds.

As long as they did away with any semblance of “handling” or “sportiness” I’d be okay with it. This should be following the RR way of thinking where engines should be tuned to “waft” you along and the suspension should be extra compliant.

I'd have to ditch the shiny wheels and the stick-on vents on the front quarter panel, though.

Exactly. There should be a warning sign on the visor that says, “for cruising only”. With that given, all it needs is enough power to scoot its bulk along. I’m with you on the pimp-mobile wheels and vents, though. Gotta go.

I would be scared to open the four doors at the same time. It might fold in half

I think, in principle, it's a decent idea - convertibles should be an experience you can share with your friends. However, I'd want a body/frame designed properly to hold it all together. This being some sort of custom job, I'd be very surprised if this car were still running today, 7 years later.

Actually, there was a company making these... I remember seeing their ads in Car and Driver back in the day.

EDIT: This might be them: http://www.droptopcustoms.com/showroom/chrys…
